Tourists visiting the holy cities of Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh can now look forward to exciting catamaran and cruise rides, adding a new dimension to their travel experiences. The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation has completed all necessary preparations to offer these new attractions. These rides are set to resume after the rainy season, providing tourists with unique ways to explore these historic and spiritual destinations.
New Water Adventures in Ayodhya, Kashi, and Prayagraj
In Ayodhya and Kashi, tourists will soon be able to enjoy catamaran boat rides, which are expected to be a major draw for visitors. The boats, which were delivered last month by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), have been handed over to the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation. The catamarans are fully air-conditioned and can comfortably accommodate up to 50 passengers, making them an ideal choice for group tours and family outings.
Meanwhile, in Prayagraj, tourists will have the opportunity to experience mini cruise boat rides on the river. These cruises will offer a relaxing and scenic journey, showcasing the beauty of the area. The two mini cruise boats provided to Prayagraj each have a seating capacity of 30, ensuring that passengers can enjoy the ride in comfort.
Enhancing the Tourist Experience
Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasized the state’s commitment to improving tourism infrastructure and providing memorable experiences for visitors. He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has become one of the top tourism destinations in India, attracting over 48 crore visitors last year. The state is also preparing to host the largest religious gathering in the world, Mahakumbh, in 2025, which is expected to draw more than 40 crore tourists.
To cater to the growing number of visitors, the Tourism Corporation has also introduced six motorboats and two rescue boats in these regions. These boats, each with a capacity of six people, will enhance the overall water sports experience. The government is working under a public-private partnership (PPP) model to operate these boats, with tenders already issued. Regular operations are expected to begin soon after the rainy season, ensuring that tourists can fully enjoy these new attractions.
Future Plans for Ayodhya, Kashi, and Prayagraj
Looking ahead, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to further expand its offerings to meet the rising demand for tourism in the state. In response to the increasing influx of tourists in Ayodhya, two additional solar-powered boats, each with a seating capacity of 30 people, will be introduced. These eco-friendly boats will be provided by the New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (NEDA) and will offer a sustainable option for river tours in the city.
