Situated about 20 kilometers from Meppadi, Attamala is a tea plantation area known for its gentle slopes and rolling hills. The landslide has disrupted the tranquil environment, causing significant damage to the region.
Noolpuzha:
Noolpuzha, located near Sulthan Bathery, was celebrated for its lush greenery and dense forests. The village is now submerged in floodwaters, with broken branches and debris scattered across the landscape. The area is currently cut off, making it difficult for rescue teams to reach the affected people.
Government Response
In response to the disaster, Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has postponed all state government public events. The state has declared official mourning for today and tomorrow to honor the lives lost in this tragic event. The government is focused on rescue and relief efforts, providing support to the affected communities.
